Eric Mah, EdD, MHS:

Eric Mah has served as Institutional Official, as Chief Compliance Officer, and in IRB leadership roles for large academic medical centers and complex healthcare systems. Appointed to the DHHS Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections in 2023, he helped form its successor, the volunteer-driven National Advisory Committee on Human Protections (nachrp.org). Eric’s other career highlight is being part of the team which created the Consortium for Applied Research Ethics - Quality (CARE-Q.org), a joint effort between Stanford and the University of California, which offers no- and low-costs tools, resources, and a collegial peer-review certification process to support high-quality IRB programs. Eric receives no compensation from NACHRP or CARE-Q, as both are community-service endeavors. In all his work, he hopes to raise awareness about the clinical research industrial complex and how it challenges value-based high-quality care.
