Neal W. Dickert, MD, PhD:

Dr. Dickert is an the Thomas R. Williams Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the Emory University School of Medicine. He holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health, is a Senior Faculty Fellow at the Emory Center for Ethics, is co- Director of the Emory Health Services Research Center (https://med.emory.edu/departments/medicine/research/centers-institutes/health-services-research/index.html), and leads the Network Capacity Core and Recruitment Center for the Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance. Dr. Dickert is a board-certified cardiologist, and his research focuses on ethical issues relevant to cardiology practice and to the conduct of clinical research. His scholarly work in research ethics have addressed the conduct of clinical research in acute care contexts where informed consent is impossible or difficult, the process of shared decision-making for clinical care and research participation, and the role of incentives for research recruitment. He is a member of multiple Data Safety and Monitoring Committees, is an alumnus of the Greenwall Faculty Scholars Program and a past Greenwall Foundation Fellow at the National Academy of Medicine, and was appointed to the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections in 2023.
